If you don't post it someone else will

I was planning to do a post on these comments by Edward Glaeser, but I decided to put it off because:

a) Joseph told me he was reading the book and could give me a better assessment of how the ideas held up;

b) I'd recently criticized Glaeser at some length;

c) I had about a dozen other posts I wanted to do.

One of the comments that annoyed me was Glaeser's comparison of public schools and restaurants, now Dominik LukeŇ° has spent two thousand plus words taking the analogy apart stone by stone and salting the ground. If you're in the mood for a good dismantling and salting you should definitely follow the link.
