I am oddly comforted by the thought that British foodies might be more annoying than American foodies
See a man get introduced "to an obsession with minutely collected things" ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifaaBu4c5eI (A game show where people guess whether a story is true or not. Pork pie is Cockney rhyming slang for lie.)
I've been on a Mitchell and Webb kick and I've seen some other episodes of that show. Mitchell has some great rants on it. I didn't realize pork pie was rhyming slang. (The only example I knew was raspberry [tart])
John Finnemore was one of the writers on DM Soap Box. He wrote a hilarious radio show called "Cabin Pressure" with some high profile English actors (I would point to the wikipedia entry but it gives too much of the plot away and spoils the comedy). It has a very English sensibility so it might not suit American taste. Stephen Fry had an interesting take on the difference between American and English comedy which suits the occassion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k2AbqTBxao
