Though OE has a pretty good reach in the statistical community, we are still a small blog and sometimes it's easy to get the feeling that Joseph and I are just continuing our long standing email conversation in a slightly more public forum. I would love to get some real discussions going so "please keep those cards and letters coming."

And if you haven't seen it already, check out Jekyll.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14705408455380402571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6976144462093297473.post-58889842445411299412010-10-31T20:06:56.477-04:002010-10-31T20:06:56.477-04:00I wonder why there are hardly any comments on this...I wonder why there are hardly any comments on this blog, it's great!

The BBC Sherlock miniseries is also great. I think it was Raymond Chandler who said that only a psychopath could love a realistic mystery story, but that the "detached" mystery novel "has also a depressing way of minding its own business, solving its own problems and answering its own questions" - so Moffit & Gatiss are very neatly solving the problem of what kind of crazy person would want to solve crimes for intellectual exercise by making Holmes a sociopath. XD

I loved the way they brought in modern technology, too - though who in this day and age has an engraved cellphone, honestly.

A friend of mine was commenting that while Gatiss and Russell T. Davis try to normalize gayness, Moffat writes Special characters who have non-standard sexualities.

Anyway. Keep up the good work! I might comment some time on one of the more serious posts, if I ever have something useful to say.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
